He's been the major personality of the american pop art movement.

Son of Slovak Romanian immigrants, studied advertising art at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (CIT), now called Carnegie Mellon University of Pittsburgh. After the graduation, in 1949, moved to New York.

The Big Apple offered him various chances to become a great pubblicist, and worked for magazines like Vogue and Glamour.

He died in New York, the 22nd of February, at 5.45 am, after surgery to the gallbladder. Funerals were made in his natal city, Pittsburgh.
